Some went dry and others turned vegan. Many took up exercise regimes that they struggled to commit to. Others just stayed home, committed to goblin mode and watched the new season of True Detective. However you chose to spend January, it will come as a relief that the dark days are coming to a close and we can end our collective month of self-flagellation and re-enter the world of the living. Peel of those tracksuits, power up that coffee machine and get back out there!  February sees the 2024 fashion law event calendar springing into action and we’re ready to go.

  • New York Law School kick things off on 08 February when its Media, Entertainment and Fashion Law Association hosts its 2nd Annual Symposium. There will be a full day of professional panels and presentations focused on Intellectual Property in the Entertainment, Media, and Fashion industries. You can register here and its free! 
  • Next up, we’re staying in New York for the Federal Bar Association’s annual Art and Fashion Law Conference on February 15th. The two-day event takes place in New York at 230 Park Avenue and is designed for attorneys and non-attorneys who are interested in the intersection of art, fashion, and the law. The 15th of February will be focused on Art Law and the 16th devoted to Fashion Law. Tickets can be purchased here
  • May will see those in the business of fashion flock to Europe. First up, it’s Fashion Law London’s annual event, Fashion Reborn: The Age of AI London, which will be held on May 13th. Full Program is yet to be announced but with Elenora Rosati at the helm, we know it will be a good one! 
  •  For those lucky enough, Venice will be the next port of call for the Financial Times Business of Luxury Summit taking place from May 19th – May 21st. Co-chaired by the FT’s Joe Ellison and Roula Khalaf, the Summit gathers industry leaders for three days immersed in the world of luxury. At a cost of almost $4000 per person before pay for flights and accommodation, this is a big business corporate only affair. Alternatively, digital passes cost a much more reasonable $300 and you can watch from the comfort of your own home. Tickets and information can be found here
  • It’s back to New York in late May for Fordham’s Fashion Law Institute’s annual fashion law bootcamp on May 28th. The week-long intensive Fashion Law course run by Susan Scafidi of Fordham University’s Fashion Law Institute is the gold standard of Fashion Law courses.  Detailed materials, world class speakers and a deep dive into the nitty gritty of the fashion industry are just some of the reasons to attend. It’s expensive, yes, but if you can afford it, absolutely worth it. Register here
  • June – Phew, its back to London for the Luxury Law Summit London. Now in its 12th year, the Luxury Law Summit 2024 will look at why the legal department is uniquely placed to steer luxury businesses and what is needed to take the lead. How can a brand be positioned and protected in an era of activism? How can a culture of wellbeing and inclusivity be fostered in a company? How can true luxury consumers and Gen Z co-exist?
