Collectif, the UK based vintage reproduction brand, today announced that it has ceased trading. The company announced via its social media channels that it has ceased trading and that there will be a closing sale this weekend in its Camden stores, ending Sunday, 04 August.
Starting life as a Camden market stall back in 2000, the brand quickly became a hit with rockabillies and vintage style enthusiasts. The brand specialised in 1950’s style clothing, swimwear and accessories and grew in popularity as the noughties ‘pin-up’ scene exploded. The stall expanded to encompass stores in Brighton, Camden Stables Market, Old Spitalfields Market as well as a pop-up in Hawley Wharf. Its clothes were also sold through Netherlands vintage giant, Top Vintage, as well as Unique Vintage in the USA.
Difficult trading conditions in a post Brexit Britain has seen a deluge of household names folding over the last year. The Body Shop collapsed into administration back in February and Ted Baker followed in March – the company is due to close its remaining stores in the coming weeks. The Vampires Wife was another shock closure that highlighted the acute pain points of running a business in an isolated trading region.
