Sports wear giant Adidas has filed a lawsuit against fast fashion company Fashion Nova, accusing it of infringing on its three stripe trademark.

Filed in a California federal district court, Adidas has accused Fashion Nova of infringement, breach of contract and unfair competition.

It’s not the first time Fashion Nova has found itself on the wrong side of an Adidas infringement claim. Back in 2022 the two brands reached a settlement over what Adidas claimed were ‘identical, confusingly similar, or substantially indistinguishable imitations,’ of its three-stripe mark. Fashion Nova agreed to stop selling the offending clothes and footwear. Now Adidas claims the brand is once again offering for sale these items via its website.

Adidas has been using its three-stripe logo since the 1950s, and has not been shy in protecting its trademark. The company has filed more than 90 lawsuits and reached more than 200 settlements related to the trademark since 2008, including against Marc Jacobs and Juicy Couture and more recently, Thom Browne.
