Victoria’s Secret Model Exposes Dark Side Of Life As An Angel

A few eyebrows were rasied last year when Victoria’s Secret model Kylie Bisutti quit the fashion industry for religious reasons. The 23 year old Las Vegas native was on the fast track to becoming a household name (and body) thanks to a string of lucrative modelling deals with Victoria’s Secret and FHM when she announced her retirement to move to Montana with her husband and volunteer for her local church. Now Bisutti has revealed her reasons for quitting the industry in a tell all book “I’m no Angel”.

Recalling a shoot for men’s magazine FHM, she states “That’s when it hit me, I was being paid to strip down and pose provocatively to titillate men. It wasn’t about modelling clothes anymore; I felt like a piece of meat. The next day, I broke down and started sobbing.”

And that’s not all, Bisutti exposes the extreme dieting required to model with the Angels stating;

“I’m 5-foot-10, and I got down to 115 pounds with measurements of 34-24-34. I wasn’t been sent on many assignments and when I asked my agent he responded ‘It’s because you look like a fat cow right now, Kylie. You need to lose 2 inches off of your hips.’After cutting my diet even further to just pineapples, watermelon and liters of water while exercising two hours a day, I finally dropped down to 108 pounds, which satisfied my agent, and the gigs started rolling in.”

“One of my model roommates was so bulimic she would involuntarily throw up when she ate. She would go to sleep crying every night.”

This won’t come as much of a surprise to those of you that read our story on the Swedish model scouts that are scouting models from the Stockholm Center for Eating Disorders.

Today, Bisutti has “never been more content” and is working on a Christian clothing line that she describes as “modest clothes” modelled by women of “all shapes and sizes”. Her book, I’m No Angel: From Victoria’s Secret Model to Role Model, is due to be released on 14 May but it looks like Victoria’s Secret are not so pleased about the contents of the book. In a statement released by the brand today the lingerie company dismisses much of her criticism as lies.

“Ms Bisutti has made numerous fabrications and misstatements of fact regarding her brief association with Victoria’s Secret,” read the statement. “In 2009, Ms. Bisutti won an online amateur modelling competition and hasn’t worked for us since that year. The prize for the winning contestant was the unique opportunity to a one-time walk in the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She was never a Victoria’s Secret Angel as defined by the terms of our Angel model contract.”

So, who do you think is telling porkies?
